XTO, Inc. delivers cost-effective industrial solutions to clients in a variety of industries and applications. We maintain two facilities and leverage the experience of more than 75 employees to offer leading fabrication services, including electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI) shielding. Our expertise in this field enables our engineering staff to customize EMI and RFI shielding for nearly any application.

EMI Shielding

Conductive ElastomersEMI shielding prevents components within electrical assemblies from causing or experiencing functionality issues. EMI shielding may also be used to prevent electromagnetic interference from entering into spaces at vulnerable points. We partner with Parker Chomerics to provide a variety of EMI/RFI solutions. Examples include:

  • Shielded windows
  • Microwave absorbers
  • Air ventilation panels
  • Engineered laminates
  • Conductive coatings
  • Conductive adhesives
  • EMI-shielded gaskets
  • Conductive extrusions
  • Conductive elastomer sheets
  • What is Electromagnetic Interference?
EMI refers to electrical noise that negatively impacts the performance of an electrical circuit. Depending on the nature of the equipment and the source of the interference, changes in an electrical field generated by an EMI disturbance may simply limit the functionality of circuits or stop them from working altogether. Electromagnetic interference is caused by either electromagnetic induction or electromagnetic radiation originating from an external source. Electromagnetic interference shielding solutions reduce EMI in a space by using conductive or magnetic materials that block the invasive electromagnetic field.

RFI Shielding

While EMI and RFI are commonly used interchangeably, they are slightly different. Radio frequency interference is one form of EMI.

  • What is Electromagnetic Interference?
RFI is actually a subset of EMI that refers to the lower frequency range of this type of interference. Like all unwanted EMI, radiofrequency disturbances also negatively impact an electrical circuit's operation.  RFI shielding is synonymous with EFI shielding and refers to using magnetic or conductive materials to successfully block the invasive field.

EMI/RFI Shielding from XTO, Inc.

XTO, Inc. fabricates a variety of EMI gaskets that rely on various materials to shield the gasket from electromagnetic interference. We offer the following EMI gaskets:

  • Conductive elastomers
  • Conductive foam
  • Mesh gaskets
  • Stainless steel gaskets
