Pressure Sensitive Adhesives

XTO fabricates, converts and distributes 3M™ Pressure Sensitive Adhesives  (PSA) for a variety of industrial and manufacturing uses. The adhesives can adhere quickly and securely to a wide range of High Surface Energy (HSE) and Low Surface Energy (LSE) materials including glass, ABS and hard-to-bond PP, HDPE, LDPE, nylon and powder coated or UV painted surfaces.

Pressure-sensitive adhesives are designed for many applications and have a set of characteristics of which defines their use. Which type of adhesive you choose depends on the desired outcome.  XTO has extensive experience in selecting the proper PSA for any application. Please contact us if any guidance is needed. XTO offers the following types of 3M™ Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Products:

Rubber Pressure Sensitive Adhesive

  • High initial bond
  • Can withstand heat to 350°F
  • Good solvent resistance
  • Synthetic rubber adhesive is moisture and humidity resistant

Standard Acrylic Pressure Sensitive Adhesive

With moderate initial bond, standard acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive is recommended for high surface energy applications.

  • Can withstand up to 450°F
  • Excellent chemical and UV resistance
  • Excellent solvent resistance

Silicone Pressure Sensitive Adhesive

Silicone adhesives have high shear and peel strength for hard-to-bond substrates.

  • Can with stand up to 600°F as well as excellent low temperature performance
  • Excellent chemical and UV resistance
  • Excellent solvent resistance

Modified Acrylic Pressure Sensitive Adhesive

Modified pressure sensitive adhesive bonds to a wider variety of materials than standard acrylic and has a softer feel. It can also be applied to many different types of surfaces compared to the standard acrylic.

  • Can withstand up to 300°F
  • Good/Moderate chemical and UV resistance
  • Durable
  • Moderate UV resistance
  • Good solvent resistance

Double Coated Tapes

Double coated tapes are a PSA that contains a carrier between the two layers of adhesive. The carrier can be made of paper, plastic film, tissue or foam, the different types of carriers provide different advantages such as temperature control.  The main advantage of the double-coated tapes is it allows for two different adhesives to be used making bonding to two different substrates more effective

Transfer Tapes

Transfer Tapes is simply a layer of adhesive with a release liner. This allows the material to be more flexible without the additional carrier layer.
